Celebrating the 50th anniversary of SOS International

This website is part of SOS International’s celebration of the company’s 50th anniversary on 3 May 2011. Inside are lots of different articles, film clips and photos that each tell a small part of the story about our history and our way of thinking – and about the people who made it all happen. These stories and anecdotes help illustrate how SOS International has evolved and grown from a small company providing roadside assistance in 1961 to a wide-ranging international concern in 2011.

The contents are divided into each of the five decades, with both graphics and text that help give you a sense of what each era was like. Instead of the traditional chronological time line, we’ve highlighted certain events that had a crucial influence on the way SOS International has subsequently developed. The strange events and notable anecdotes featured in this chronicle aren’t just included because we think it’s fun to hear about the good old days. They also give you a better understanding of what SOS International does, as well as of the unique spirit and set of values behind the company.
